"There is light in the darkness, you just have to find it." - Bell Hooks
I consider myself a gentle soul, with a warm heart and a natural leaning towards helping others. My inspiration and journey into counselling began years ago as a mentor within the educational sector, where I offered help, support and compassion to children and parent/s/carer/s. My wish and aim is to meet you, where you are, and speak with you, without judgement but with care and consideration for your needs. There will be moments where our dialogue becomes somatic in nature, non-verbal and spiritual in connection - a therapeutic embrace. I understand, first-hand, how trauma can impact and influence lives, and direct our interaction with the world around us. With that, I passionately approach life with the aim of being of help, or service, so as to encourage reflection, regeneration and growth.
I am a Person-Centred (Humanistic) counsellor working with adults and a Children & Young People’s Therapist. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.d).
Areas I work with:
Person-centred counselling is based on the unique relational connection between us as ‘people’; the need for human connection at a deeper level; which occurs beneath the surface and between the obstacles of discomfort; with the aim of arriving at a place of satisfaction, where you can see your true self re-emerge. The human connection within the person-centred approach aims to create the small circle we need to heal the inner soul.
I will calmly and safely work at your pace, and will be in step with each aspect of your experiences as you present them, working in partnership with you, as you embark upon understanding and resolving the concern and difficulties that have arisen. Confidentiality will be at the core of our work together.
My therapeutic approach is underpinned with 20 years of holistically working with and supporting children and young people; within a variety of educational settings – schools, colleges and universities. I offer a non-judgemental, calm and supportive manner for each child and young person to reflect upon, and explore their emotions, with the aim of eventually gaining a sense of understanding of how to be.
