Welcome, and thank you for visiting Rodney Cyrus-Reid Counselling. I offer online counselling to children & adults in the local boroughs of Bromley, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. Offering short-term and open-ended sessions.
As a qualified and MNCPS Acc.d person-centred counsellor who trained with Ocean Counselling, I work with clients offering online sessions in the local boroughs of Bromley, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. The essence of providing online counselling is knowing that it will fit the needs of clients who face a variety of challenges. It also provides an option for those clients who have found it difficult to access in person sessions. I also offer the option of in-person counselling sessions.
Prior to qualifying as a counsellor, I worked extensively within a variety of educational settings where I provided holistic support to children, adolescents and parents/carers. As then, I continue to provide help in the form of counselling as I work with clients (adults and children) who face the daily challenges of work, school, life and family. My therapeutic approach is to create a safe environment so that clients feel comfortable to speak about the issues they face. Some of these issues are anxiety, stress, trauma, loss, addiction, bullying and depression. Working therapeutically and in partnership with clients to ascertain their goals and once identified cultivate a level of self-awareness which results in an improved sense of self-worth and care.
My experience of supporting clients in these areas is extensive and has resulted in growth in their personal and emotional well-being.
After an initial conversation, it is normal practice to undertake an initial assessment with clients which will provide the opportunity to establish whether we will be a good fit for each other and give you the chance to ask any questions you may have about counselling.
Additional training in the following areas:

Counselling provides a unique opportunity to learn about who we are as individuals. And noticeably this is when we are faced with difficult challenges that are often part of everyday life. Such challenges arrive in the shape of feeling anxious or stressed as well as depression.
During these periods we may feel somewhat isolated from others, where we are unsure of the next step and become perplexed as to which way to turn. As a result we find it difficult to identify someone we can trust and who will essentially understand what we are going through.
Looking for help through counselling is an important step
I provide a safe, calm and confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. As a person-centred counsellor, I will not offer any judgement to what is discussed during the sessions. Nor will I provide you with a particular direction to follow based on the themes you choose to share. I will offer you the opportunity to reflect on your life, values and ambitions for the future. And also enable you to explore your emotions as they arrive within each session.

I work with clients offering online sessions in the local boroughs of Bromley, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. The essence of providing online counselling is knowing that it will fit the needs of clients who face a variety of challenges. It also provides an option for those clients who have found it difficult to access in person sessions. The online counselling sessions are easily accessible via Zoom, WhatsApp and telephone (Zoom telephone access and mobile).
As a MNCPS Acc. counsellor, I offer therapeutic group work for dads and male carers who wish to discuss what it is like to be a parent and aspects of their lives within a supportive and safe environment. Working in partnership with schools, I have facilitated discussions which have touched upon mental health concerns, anxiety, stress, and depression.
I offer a therapeutic space and inform those in attendance that the discussions will take a natural shape. I am there to guide and offer insight into what has been shared. The free flowing conversations allow the group to take stock, pause, and reflect with the aim of promoting increased self-awareness. Throughout each session as the facilitator, I hold the space and offer empathy and ensure that the boundaries are maintained through mutual respect.
I offer online counselling in the South London areas of Southwark, Lewisham, Lambeth and Bromley. The counselling sessions are open ended, so depending on your aims and expectations these are tailored to your needs.
Short term and time limited sessions will have a duration of around 12 weeks.
Once you have made contact. I will contact you within two working days to arrange a suitable time for us to talk on the phone. If you want to proceed, we can then arrange to meet for an initial session (online) to discuss what you are looking for, and how we might best work together.
Once we have agreed to work together, your session is reserved for you. Therefore, payment for all sessions is essential, so as to offer consistency and security. However, you will not be charged for a session when I am unavailable to meet with you, such as when I am on holiday or other exceptional circumstances. In all cases, and where possible, you will be given plenty of notice..
If during the initial consultation you feel that counselling does not best suit your needs at the time, then I will endeavour to help you to seek out the most appropriate support. Also, once we start you can cancel at any time. However, I do ask that you give me at least four weeks notice so we have time to think about endings.
The only exception to keeping confidentiality could be where there is a risk of harm to yourself or to others, and requirements of law. In such circumstances, I shall make every effort to talk to you about this first.
My approach to counselling is to focus on the whole person and what you bring to each session, each week. As a person-centered counsellor, my role during the session is to walk alongside you reflect and explore how you interact with the world around you, and how you relate to yourself. In those moments where you wish to simply pause and experience the present, I offer you a non judgemental, non directive approach during our work together.
Payment for sessions are to be received 24 hours in advance.
