Listening with care

"There is light in the darkness, you just have to find it." - Bell Hooks

About me

The universe within each of us consists of everything we know and don’t know about ourselves. Counselling is a way used to explore aspects of our inner soul so as to understand how we interact with the world in which we exist. It provides us with the tools to come to terms with the anxiety and stressors of life, and shed light on the dullness, and lift the heaviness of the heart. If some of the themes mentioned seem familiar to you, seeking counselling can help.

My approach to counselling is person-centred, a supportive, authentic and calm approach which will benefit you. Your needs and expectations will remain central to each session, and the work we will do together is geared towards your inward and outward view – of self and the world around you. Whatever your reasons are for entering into counselling; in the background you may be holding onto aspects of hope and healing; where your need for deeper conversations and deeper connections encourage and promote growth of the self.

Throughout my early life, and now as a counsellor, I have embodied the hallmarks of the helpful listener, whilst supporting children, young people and adults.

I am a Humanistic counsellor working with adults and a Children & Young People’s Therapist. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.d).

Therapeutic approach

Person-centred counselling is based on the unique relational connection between us as ‘people’; the need for human connection at a deeper level; which occurs beneath the surface and between the obstacles of discomfort; with the aim of arriving at a place of satisfaction, where you can see your true self re-emerge. The human connection within the person-centred approach aims to create the small circle we need to heal the inner soul.

I will calmly and safely work at your pace, and will be in step with each aspect of your experiences as you present them, working in partnership with you, as you embark upon understanding and resolving the concern and difficulties that have arisen. Confidentiality will be at the core of our work together.

Children and Young People

My therapeutic approach is underpinned with 20 years of holistically working with and supporting children and young people; within a variety of educational settings – schools, colleges and universities. I offer a non-judgemental, calm and supportive manner for each child and young person to reflect upon, and explore their emotions, with the aim of eventually gaining a sense of understanding of how to be.

I want to thank you for being very kind and calm with me. When I began to have counselling with you, I had experienced a significant loss in my life. I had my son to consider and wondered as to what would happen next. You made me feel at ease as you listened. You provided me with good advice and left me feeling more confident about myself. I was able to understand things about myself and consider my feelings at a very difficult time.

I would like to thank you so much for all the counselling, it has really helped me. Initially, I hadn’t thought how much it would help but it really has. Having time to process and reflect has really helped me to rationalise things. Huge thanks for all your listening.

I would like to thank you as this has been valuable in terms of being able to just process my thoughts. I appreciated every session. Thank you.
